Country estates and parks
On the territory of Belarus’ in the times of the second half of the XVIII and the beginning of the XIX centuries a country estate or palace complexes building prevailed. On their inherited estates local landowners created various in size and value of the arts architectural park residences: from not large country houses of noble families to huge palaces of prosperous magnates. There are such interesting estates in Rossony region as well.
Dvor Charepito village
Nowadays there is only a landscape park (the obligatory element of the country residence in those times) left from the country estate “Dvor Charepito”, which belonged to the well-known landowner Glazko. The park was founded in the beginning of the XX century and surrounded the house in a shape of semicircle. During the park creating there was put into practice a very effective method of park and forest trees combination. It gave the park the feeling of spaciousness and landscape variety. The one can determine the park zone only by cultural tipes of the trees: lime, lilac, oak, fir or spruce.
From the memories of Kulaga Vladimir (his father served as a coachman for the landowner Glazko):
According to the stories of the eyewitnesses the park had two large ponds, which were connected through a small river. The banks of the river were paved with bricks. On the perimeter there were made several flat garden grounds, where were planted different sorts of apple trees. Unfortunately the gardens were killed by frost in the year 1937.
The house itself had one storey and was of the length of 37 meters. Inside the building was a spacious column hall (there were the “bau mond” balls held and arranged specially for the guests who came from far distance territories).
The landowner Lefer Estate (Gorky village)
The estate was built in years 1893-1913 on the northern edge of Gorky village.
The house had an asymmetrical dynamic size and space composition, the vertical dominant of which was strong four-corner and three-tier tower with a marquee roof. The walls of the household buildings were constructed of the local large stones. There is still something mysterious and enigmatic in those deserted remnants of the “Knight Castle” surrounded by a romantic park…
The landowner Gutsevich Estate Park
On the edge of village Kazimirovo the one can hardly determine the territory of the park from the wild trees. The same as the Dvor Charepito park this was organized under the principle of naturalistic landscape. The landscape planning and composition of the park was arranged in the shape of the circle, which surrounded a water mirror with the only tiny island in the middle.
Shnitovka Estate
This estate very strongly reminds the usual peasant lodging. A log house was built on the stone base in the end of the XIX and the beginning of the XX centuries.
