Welcome to have a rest at Belarussian countryside!
These are the Northern outlying country lands of Belarus’ nowadays.
In the past this area was the center of various events.
The nature itself created a museum of history here. The landscape of present-day territories and numerous picturesque lakes and rivers of Rossony region are the last glacier heritage. Moving to the south at a definite moment it stopped and left a large quantity of hills and heights, rivers and lakes. It created favourable conditions for people to start building there first settlements in this country – the ancient burial mounds and settling places.
When you start to get acquainted with the history of Rossony, you get a feeling that the time itself guards the area and puts the markers (as if in the diary book) of events and stories. The territories of this area in different period of time had been under possession of different governments and had been moved from one state to another.
Here took place the histories of The Great Principality of Lithuania an The Empire of Russia.
During the Russian tsar Ivan IV (the Terrible) ruling period there was the “Sokol” fortress built at the Dryssa and Nishcha rivers junction. The Rossony area became the Empire of Russia vanguard. But the history had its own plans on that place. As a result of the war the fortress was demolished completely.
The Napoleon War (the year of 1812). Main battlefields took places on destinations to Moscow. But here on Rossony lands took place the one of the key battle, after which Napoleon refused to go with war to Saint-Petesburg.
During the times of the World War II the Rossony area was the one large partisan zone. The Fascists felt themselves extremely uncomfortable here. In their revenge the Nazis were putting villages on fire and had been murdering all of the inhabitants. After the war times the population of the region had been reduced in half. And many of the burnt villages had never been revived.
Here the history ran the whole show. And at some moment the history left this country alone. And like a burning hot metal after cooling it kept everything that took places hundreds and thousands years ago here for us preserved.
